Hayle Food Bank
Hayle Foodbank
Supporting local people when they need a helping hand
Hayle Foodbank was formed in 2012 to provide short-term support to local people in the Hayle area who find themselves facing difficult circumstances, such as waiting for benefits, losing a job, relationship breakdown, unexpected bills or homelessness.
The aim has always been to help people get back on their feet as soon as possible, working with other agencies where needed to help make this happen.
How to Get Help
You can self-refer for up to three food parcels in any 12-month period.
If you need more than three parcels, this can be extended to six parcels in 12 months with a referral from a GP surgery, Health Visitor, Social Worker, Mental Health Key Worker or another appropriate agency.
You can turn up at Hayle Methodist Church, behind the War Memorial, between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday mornings.
However, it is always better to contact the Foodbank in advance, as food storage is limited and less usual items may not always be available.
Contact Hayle Foodbank by email at haylefoodbank@gmail.com or telephone 07713 171495.
Each parcel contains a substantial amount of food, so people do not generally need to request a parcel every week and can make their supplies last.
Toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel are also available where needed, along with pet food.
There are also “help yourself” food cupboards at Phillack Church Hall, near Home Bargains, and at Foundry, near the Post Office.
Details are often posted on the Everything Hayle Facebook page.
How You Can Help
There are lots of ways you can support Hayle Foodbank.
You can donate food, pet food or toiletries at the collection points at: ASDA Hayle, behind the checkouts
WJ Winn Funeral Directors, Copperhouse & at the Hayle Methodist Church, between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday mornings
Money donations can also be made. Please visit the Foodbank’s website or Facebook page for information on how to donate.
Volunteers Needed – Hayle Foodbank is also looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours on a Saturday morning to help with: Packing food parcels, delivering parcels, shopping for food, and collecting vegetables from Pengellys Farm.
Your own transport is required for the last three activities.
If you would like to volunteer, please email haylefoodbank@gmail.com.
Thank You, Hayle!
Hayle Foodbank is incredibly fortunate to have such a generous and supportive local community.
Donations of food and toiletries are regularly received through collection points at ASDA Hayle, Copperhouse Chemist and WJ Winn Funeral Directors, as well as through financial donations from local individuals and organisations.
There are far too many generous supporters to name everyone individually, but special thanks must go to the Hayle Runners, Thurstan Hoskin Solicitors and their clients, who make regular donations, as well as Riviere Farms, who generously donate fresh vegetables, and Pengelly’s Farm, who donate potatoes.
Local schools and churches are also particularly generous at Harvest and Christmas, helping to support the Foodbank’s Christmas Parcel operation. At Christmas, the Foodbank can provide special parcels to up to 80 local families.
The continued generosity of the Hayle community makes a real difference to local people when they need it most.
